Independent Reporting Commission Bill 2017
Public bill · Government · Presented
Sets up the Independent Reporting Commission in Irish law, following an agreement between the Irish and British Governments. It makes the Commission an independent legal body, gives it the money, premises and staff it needs, and sets out its job: reporting on issues connected with ending paramilitary activity and supporting peace and stability. It also protects confidential information, limits the Commission from doing anything that could endanger people or damage security or court cases, and allows for the Commission to be wound up later by the two Governments.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to make provision in relation to the Independent Reporting Commission established by the Government and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland under the Agreement between those Governments done at Dublin on 13 September 2016 and to provide for related matters
