National Famine Commemoration Day Bill 2017

Sets up a national day to remember the Great Famine and says the State should mark it with a commemoration that reflects its huge historical, social and cultural importance. The remembrance would take place every year on the second Sunday in May, with civil and military ceremony and an inter-faith service, at a central venue chosen by the Taoiseach. It also covers the cost of running the commemoration from public funds.
