Rent Transparency Bill 2017

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

A proposed change to housing law would make it illegal to rent out a home unless key details about the lease were given to the Residential Tenancies Board and agreed to be published. The board would have to create a public rent database showing basic information such as the property address, rent, lease length, type of dwelling, occupancy, location, and tenancy start date, while keeping some personal details on file. It would also create an offence punishable by a fine of up to €10,000 for breaching the rules.

Formal long title
