Extending Ireland’s equality laws to cover disadvantaged social and economic background, so people would be protected from being treated unfairly because they come from a poorer area or an area linked with crime or anti-social behaviour. It would apply in both workplaces and the provision of goods and services, meaning employers and service providers could not refuse or disadvantage someone for where they come from or where they live.
