Education (Inspection of Individual Education Plans for Children with Special Needs) Bill 2017

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The bill would give the education inspectorate a new job: checking how widely individual education plans are used for children with special educational needs, and how good those plans are. It would also require the inspectorate to report to the Minister every year on this, so the Government can see whether children are getting the planning and support they need. This matters because clearer, more consistent plans can help children with special needs get better educational outcomes.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Education Act 1998 to grant additional functions to the Inspectorate to examine and report to the Minister on the prevalence and standard of individual educational plans for children with special educational needs on an annual basis; and to provide for related matters
