Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Emissions Targets) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Aims to strengthen Ireland’s climate law by setting clear emissions-cutting targets for 2020, 2030 and 2050. It would require those targets to be built into the national mitigation plan and the national adaptation framework, and would push ministers to set out how each sector will help meet them. The purpose is to make climate planning more concrete and accountable, so the State has clearer milestones for reducing greenhouse gases over time.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 to specify emissions reduction targets to be achieved and to include these targets in the national mitigation plan and national adaptation framework
