National Lottery (Protection Of Central Fund) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The National Lottery (Protection of Central Fund) Bill 2018 aims to protect money raised for good causes by stopping bookmakers and betting intermediaries from offering bets on National Lottery results. It would add a condition to betting licences so operators could not directly or indirectly take or promote bets on any lottery game, including online and offshore offers. If a licence holder broke that rule, the Minister could seek to have the licence revoked.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to protect the Central Fund of the National Lottery established under section 8 of the National Lottery Act 1986 and section 44 of the National Lottery Act 2013 by amending the Betting Acts 1931 to 2015 by introducing a condition on certain licences granted under the Betting Acts 1931 to 2015.
