Local Government (Water Pollution) (Amendment) Bill 2018

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would let county and city councils grant wastewater discharge licences for the building of individual homes, instead of leaving that process blocked or unclear under the current water pollution rules. It would also require the Minister to set out the application process and make any extra regulations needed to put the change into practice. This matters because it could make it easier to build single houses, especially in areas that are not served by public sewerage systems.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the provisions of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act 1977 to provide for the granting of discharge licences by a water services authority for the development of single houses; and to provide for related matters.
