Prohibition of Fur Farming Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Would ban fur farming in Ireland by making it an offence to keep animals mainly for their fur, including breeding animals for that purpose or allowing others to do so. It would also let the courts order someone convicted of this offence to help pay for the animals’ veterinary care or upkeep, and it updates the existing animal welfare law so it can be enforced.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to prohibit the keeping of animals solely or primarily for slaughter for the value of their fur and to make related amendments to the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013.
