Social Welfare Commission Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Creates a Social Welfare Commission to look at whether social welfare rates are enough to let people live at an acceptable standard, and to report on this at least once a year. The commission could gather evidence, hear from experts and the public, and make recommendations on social welfare rates and, where relevant, other State payments that affect people’s living standards. It also asks for poverty impact assessments on certain policies, so changes can be judged by their effect on incomes, families, poverty, and access to work.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide for the establishment of a commission to make recommendations and report annually on the adequacy of social welfare rates in the state; and to provide for related matters
