Farm Safety Agency Bill 2018

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Creates a Farm Safety Agency inside the Health and Safety Authority to focus on keeping people safe on farms and other agricultural workplaces. It would promote accident prevention, training, advice, research, and better compliance with safety rules, while also letting the agency prepare plans and reports and, where needed, carry out some Authority functions on farm safety. It matters because farming is one of the most hazardous jobs, and the proposal aims to give it a stronger, dedicated focus.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the establishment of a body to be known as an Ghníomhaireacht um Shábháilteacht Feirme or in the English language as the Farm Safety Agency; to define its functions and its role within the Health and Safety Authority and for those purposes to amend the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005; and to provide for related matters.
