Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Naturalisation of Minors Born in Ireland) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would make it easier for children born anywhere on the island of Ireland to become Irish citizens by naturalisation. It would cut the required residence in the State from four years to two for these minors and remove extra calculation rules that currently apply to residence checks. In practice, that could help young people who have grown up here secure citizenship sooner.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the law in relation to applications for a certificate of naturalisation by minors born in the island of Ireland; and to provide for related matters.
