Finance (Office of Tax Simplification) Bill 2018

Creates a temporary Office of Tax Simplification for five years to advise the Minister for Finance on making the tax system easier to understand and run. The office could review parts of the tax system, publish reports with recommendations, and issue an annual report on its work, with the Minister required to publish responses and lay reports before the Oireachtas. Its small membership would include a chair, a tax director, and representatives from Revenue and the Department of Finance, and it would be bound by rules on confidentiality and political independence.
