Arts (Dignity at Work) (Amendment) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Arts Council would be given power to make grants conditional on organisations obeying employment law and basic workplace safety rules. For arts groups receiving €100,000 or more, contracts would have to require compliance with rules on working time, harassment, workplace relations and risk assessments, and funding could be cut if serious breaches were found and not fixed. It also adds extra oversight by making the Council chair responsible for handling those funds like an accounting officer.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to enable the Arts Council to ensure that funding is contingent on compliance with employment law and for that purpose to amend the Arts Act 2003; and to provide for related matters
