Maternity Protection (Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas) Bill 2018

Grants pregnant women who are members of Dáil Éireann or Seanad Éireann a right to maternity leave from the House for at least 18 weeks, with an option to take up to 8 more weeks afterwards. It also lets a member postpone some or all of that leave if the baby has to stay in hospital, and keeps her full parliamentary pay during leave, while stopping work-related expense claims unless they were already earned.
