Residential Tenancies (Residential Tenancies Board) (Amendment) Bill 2018

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The measure would let the Residential Tenancies Board investigate suspected breaches of the residential tenancy laws, issue findings from those investigations, refer matters for further handling under the existing complaints process, and make recommendations to the Minister. In plain terms, it would give the Board a stronger role in spotting and looking into possible rule-breaking in the rental sector, rather than relying only on its current dispute-handling functions. That matters because it could improve enforcement and help protect both renters and landlords by addressing problems earlier.

Formal long title
