Industrial Relations (Collective Action) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
A Seanad bill sponsored by Paul Gavan, Niall Ó Donnghaile and Fintan Warfield, it would change the Industrial Relations Act 1990 so workers would no longer have to use and fully exhaust every agreed workplace procedure before taking collective industrial action. In plain terms, it would make it easier for workers or unions to move to group action such as strikes without first going through every internal dispute step. That matters because it would give labour groups more room to act collectively when talks or procedures are not working.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Industrial Relations Act 1990 to remove the necessity for all agreed procedures to be resorted to and exhausted prior to collective industrial action
