Industrial and Provident Societies (Amendment) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The measure would update the rules for industrial and provident societies, which are co-operative and similar member-run organisations. It would allow more societies to use electronic filing and electronic registration, and it would let the Minister exempt some societies from filing annual returns where that matches the lighter reporting rules already used for certain companies. It also tightens the rules on registration by requiring at least three members and allows registration to be cancelled if a society drops below that number, was registered by fraud or mistake, or no longer exists.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the law relating to industrial and provident societies and for that purpose to amend the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1893 and to provide for connected matters.
