Forestry (Planning Permission) (Amendment) Bill 2018
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Would require planning permission before any new forestry project larger than 5 hectares could go ahead, instead of relying on forestry licensing alone. It would also change planning law so that rules can be made specifically to require permission for afforestation, giving local authorities a direct role in judging larger tree-planting schemes. It matters because it would add another layer of public oversight to major forestry developments, which could affect where and how new forests are planted.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the provisions of the Forestry Act 2014 to provide for planning permission for all forestry developments over 5 hectares; to amend the Planning and Development Act 2000; and to provide for related matters.
