Central Bank (National Claims Information Database) Bill 2018

It would give the Central Bank of Ireland a new role: gathering and analysing data from insurers about selected non-life insurance business in the State, such as the income it brings in and the costs and claims linked to it. The aim is to create a national database, publish at least annual reports, and provide some of the information to others where that can be done without identifying people or insurers and without harming consumers or businesses. This matters because it should make insurance costs and claims patterns more transparent and support better public understanding and oversight of the sector.
