Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill 2018
Public bill · Government · Presented
Allows members of An Garda Síochána to use the Workplace Relations Commission and, if needed, the Labour Court to help resolve industrial disputes. It treats Garda members as “workers” for these purposes, with the Garda Commissioner standing in as the employer, and sets out which other industrial relations rules do not apply in the same way. The aim is to give Garda members a formal, fair route for handling workplace disputes that fits their special employment status.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Industrial Relations Act 1990 in order to provide for the application of certain provisions of the Industrial Relations Acts 1946 to 2015 to certain members of the Garda Síochána; and to provide for related matters.
