Coroners (Amendment) Bill 2018
Public bill · Government · Presented
Changes the coroner system to make death reporting and inquests clearer, stronger and more up to date. It sets out more clearly which deaths must be reported, adds special rules for maternal deaths, stillbirths, deaths in State custody and some infant deaths, and gives families more information and, in some cases, legal aid. It also gives coroners wider powers to get documents, question witnesses, order post-mortems and inspect premises, while tightening penalties and making technical changes linked to Dublin’s coroner arrangements.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Coroners Act 1962 and to provide for related matters.
