Personal Injuries Assessment Board (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2018
Public bill · Government · Presented
Changes how the Personal Injuries Assessment Board handles injury claims, with the aim of getting more cases settled through the board rather than going to court. It tightens the rules on what claimants must submit, gives the board more room to stop stalled or unsuitable cases from continuing in its process, and introduces consequences on legal costs for people who do not cooperate. It also updates the “Book of Quantum” more regularly, lets the board collect better data, allows more electronic service of documents, and places limits on how long board members can serve. These changes matter because they are meant to make the claims process faster, more consistent, and less costly.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Personal Injuries Assessment Board Act 2003; and to provide for related matters.
