Trade Union Bill 2019

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Trade Union Bill 2019 would loosen rules that currently limit when unions and workers can take strike or other industrial action. It would make it easier for unions to organise pickets, let supporters join them, remove some requirements that employers have used to block action in court, and allow unions to act more freely in defence of individual workers. It also aims to give unions greater freedom to support broader causes chosen by their members, not just narrow workplace disputes.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Trade Union Acts 1871 to 1990 to remove restrictions on trade union members engaging in strike action and industrial action.
