Healthy Homes Bill 2019
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Healthy Homes Bill 2019 would require the rules for rented housing to be updated so tenants have warmer, more energy-efficient homes. It would also introduce radon testing in rented accommodation and require fixes where dangerous levels are found, with the changes to be phased in and allowed to take account of older protected buildings. The aim is to improve health and living conditions for renters, especially in the worst-quality homes.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1992 to provide for the establishment of thermal efficiency standards for rented accommodation, for the testing of rented accommodation for radon, for the remediation of rented accommodation with high concentrations of radon; and to provide for related matters.
