Domestic Violence (Amendment) Bill 2019
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Creates a new system for **domestic homicide reviews** after a murder or manslaughter linked to domestic violence, abuse or neglect, so the circumstances of the death can be examined and lessons learned. A Minister, the Garda Commissioner or the High Court could order a review, with families able to contribute and several State bodies required to co-operate. The review is meant to improve responses to domestic abuse in future cases, while not blaming anyone or interfering with any criminal investigation.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Domestic Violence Act 2018 to provide for the establishment and conduct of Domestic Homicide Reviews.
