Planning and Development (Climate Measures) (Amendment) Bill 2019
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would change planning rules so that liquefied natural gas terminals and other fossil-fuel projects could no longer go straight to An Bord Pleanála as strategic infrastructure. It would also require the planning board to take account of Ireland’s climate goals, including the effect a project could have on carbon emissions and the country’s reliance on fossil fuels.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Planning and Development Act 2000 in order to restrict certain developments in oil, gas (including liquefied natural gas terminals) or other fossil fuels from certain strategic development infrastructure projects, to revise the procedure for making applications directly to An Bord Pleanála and to ensure that regard be given to the State's climate goals and to provide for related matters.
