Health (Amendment) Bill 2019

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Requires the Health Minister to review every three years how well the Long Term Illness scheme is working, with the first review due within 12 months of the law being passed. The review must look at whether free medicines, drugs and medical appliances are being provided effectively for people with long-term illnesses or disabilities, and a report must be published and laid before the Oireachtas within six months of starting each review. It matters because the scheme has not been updated for decades, and the bill would help keep it current and better aligned with people’s long-term health needs.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Health Act 1970 and to provide for related matters.
