Curragh of Kildare (Amendment) Bill 2019
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Curragh of Kildare (Amendment) Bill 2019 would stop anyone from occupying part of the Curragh for three days or more without permission, and make that a criminal offence. It would also let the Minister for Defence grant licences for longer, continuous use of the area and set the rules for doing so. It matters because the Curragh is a protected and important public space, and the proposal is aimed at keeping its use under formal control.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Curragh of Kildare Act 1961 to make provision for the management and use of the Curragh whereby the Minister may grant a licence to persons for continuous occupation of any part of the Curragh for a specified period of time, and to provide for related matters.
