No. 57 of 2019

Valuation (Amendment) Bill 2019

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The measure would change the rules on commercial rates so that buildings and land used only by registered early years and school-aged childcare providers would no longer be charged them. Its aim is to cut a major cost for childcare services, which the memorandum says would help keep childcare more affordable for families and make it easier for parents, especially mothers, to stay in work.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Valuation Act 2001 to exempt childcare services providers from commercial rates.
