Housing (Housing Assistance Payment Waiting Times) (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Bill 2019

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Aiming to speed up housing support, this proposal would cut the time local authorities have to assess social housing applications and Housing Assistance Payment requests. As set out in the explanatory memorandum on page 1, it would reduce social housing assessment times from 12 weeks to 3 weeks and introduce a 3-week deadline for Housing Assistance Payment processing, helping people get decisions faster and reduce waiting periods.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009, Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 and subsequent regulations to reduce social housing and housing assistance payment scheme assessment times.
