Mandatory Beef Price Transparency Bill 2019

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

A public, private member’s bill from Brian Stanley that would create a system for tracking and publishing beef price information across the supply chain. It would require the Agriculture Minister to set up a cattle price information programme, with daily, weekly and boxed-beef reports so farmers and others can see what prices are being received. The point is to make beef pricing more transparent and easier to compare, which matters because it could strengthen bargaining power and shine a light on how prices are set.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the establishment of a source of data on the prices being received for beef products throughout the supply chain and to provide for related matters.
