Health (Amendment) (Professional Home Care) Bill 2020

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would create a proper system for regulating paid home care services for adults living at home, rather than informal family care. It would set national standards, require assessments and care plans, create a register of home carers, and make sure providers have complaints procedures, abuse safeguards, medication rules, staff training, supervision, and clear contracts and fees. It matters because it would give people who rely on home care clearer protections, safer services, and more consistent quality.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the regulation of professional home care, for that purpose to amend the Health Act 2007 and to provide for related matters.
