State Airports (Shannon Group) (Amendment) Bill 2020

Changes how Shannon Group’s board is put together. It gives Clare County Council a formal role in nominating at least one director, makes that nomination a reserved council function that cannot be delegated to a municipal district, and says a council-nominated director stops being a director if they stop being a councillor. If that person leaves the board, the Minister must fill the vacancy with another Clare County Council nominee. Shannon Group would also have to update its company rules to match these changes, so the company’s governance reflects a stronger local input from Clare County Council.
