River Shannon Management Agency Bill 2020

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Creates a River Shannon Management Agency to take the lead on flood risk along the Shannon and bring together the bodies already involved, such as the ESB, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, and local authorities. It gives the agency powers to plan, report on, and carry out drainage and flood works, and requires it to produce a flood-management strategy within three months of being set up. It matters because it aims to make flood response along the Shannon more joined-up, faster, and more accountable.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to create a single competent authority to co-ordinate flood risk and management along the River Shannon and to provide for matters connected therewith.
