Mental Health Parity of Esteem Bill 2020
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Aims to put mental health on the same footing as physical health across the health system. It would require the Minister for Health to promote that equal status and make sure health organisations meet their responsibilities to improve mental health care, so people get better treatment when they need it. The explanatory memorandum says it is meant to tackle the long-standing neglect of mental health services and push for better integration with general health services.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to place mental health on parity with physical health; to improve provision of mental health services; to increase the quality of care for those in mental health services; and to provide for related matters.
