Protection of Children (Online Pornographic Material) Bill 2020

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Aims to stop children in Ireland from seeing pornographic material online by requiring the Minister to make regulations, likely including age checks or similar measures, within six months. It would also give ComReg powers to seek information, serve enforcement notices, and, in some cases, help block access to offending material, with appeals to the High Court. People or companies that break the rules could face offences and penalties, and the bill would still leave any existing porn laws or powers in place.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to protect children from viewing pornographic material on the internet; and to provide for related matters.
