Industrial Relations (Sectoral Employment Orders Confirmation) Bill 2020
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Restores legal force to three Labour Court recommendations on pay and working conditions in the mechanical engineering building services, construction, and electrical contracting sectors. It would make those rates and terms binding on workers and employers in those sectors, including minimum pay, sick pay, and pension conditions, so contracts could not offer less. The measure matters because a court ruling had put those protections, and the wider system used to set minimum standards in some low-paid sectors, into doubt.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to give statutory effect to recommendations of the Labour Court in relation to pay and conditions in certain sectors of the economy; and to provide for connected matters.
