Planning and Development (Amendment) (20 per cent Provision of Social and Affordable Housing) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
A planning law change would remove a temporary exemption that lets some developers avoid providing 20% of new homes for social and affordable housing if they got planning permission before 2026. In plain terms, it would make the 20% housing requirement apply more widely and sooner. That matters because it could increase the number of social and affordable homes included in private developments.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Planning and Development Act 2000 to delete the sunset clause which affords an exemption to developers who secure planning permission before 2026 to provide 20 per cent of the relevant land or houses for social and affordable housing.
