Freedom of Information (Amendment) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The measure would widen access to public information by bringing pension payments to retired Taoisigh, Ministers and Presidents back under freedom of information rules. It would also close a gap when a company or other body becomes a public body, so new bodies like the Land Development Agency would be covered immediately, and it would require an annual review of partly excluded bodies. In addition, it would let the Information Commissioner refer serious failures by officials for investigation, strengthening accountability and transparency.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Freedom of Information Act 2014 and to provide for related matters.
