Workplace Ventilation (Covid-19) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would require employers to keep enclosed workplaces supplied with enough fresh air, measured partly by carbon dioxide levels, as an emergency Covid-19 protection measure. It would also let Health and Safety Authority inspectors test CO2 levels, order fixes or, in serious cases, stop work where ventilation is too poor and no suitable air filtration is in place, while giving workers the right to ask for an inspection.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 to provide for a definition of fresh air based on CO2 levels in the workplace as an emergency Covid-19 prevention measure; to provide for health and safety inspectors to take CO2 measurements and issue improvement or prohibition notices; to provide for employees to request inspections; and to provide for related matters.
