Parental Bereavement Leave (Amendment) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would give employees who have lost a child at least 10 working days of parental bereavement leave, to be taken within 42 days of the child’s death. It defines a child as under 18 and also includes a stillborn child born after 24 weeks of pregnancy. The leave would not reduce other employment rights or entitlements, and the Minister could make regulations to fill in the details.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Parental Leave Acts 1998 and 2006 to make provision for an entitlement to bereavement leave to an employee who is a bereaved parent of a child who has died and to provide for related matters.
