Education (Health, Relationships and Sex Education) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
A new legal duty would require schools receiving State funding to teach health education, including relationships and sex education, using evidence-based material. It would also make inspectors assess how well schools teach and promote this area, require the Minister’s curriculum to be followed, and have the curriculum reviewed at least every five years. Its aim is to update sex and relationships teaching to match good health and science practice and make it more consistent across schools.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Education Act 1998 and to provide for related matters.
