Social Welfare Bill 2021

Raises social welfare payments and relaxes some eligibility rules, mainly from January and June 2022. It increases rates for pensions, benefits and allowances by €5 a week in many cases, adds extra support for qualified adults and children, extends parent’s benefit from five to seven weeks, and increases working family payment thresholds and the means disregard for disability allowance and carer’s allowance. It also extends the Covid credit guarantee scheme to the end of 2022 and makes a few smaller changes, including support for non-surgical hair replacement and changes to employer PRSI rules.
