Period Products (Free Provision) Bill 2021

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Period Products (Free Provision) Bill 2021 would make period products available free of charge in schools, education institutions and public service bodies. It gives the Minister for Health power to set up the arrangements, issue guidance, and make sure the products are easy to get, offered with dignity, and include a reasonable choice of types, including reusable options. It also asks bodies covered by the scheme to consult users, publish plans for delivering it, and inform the public about where and how products can be obtained. Its main purpose is to remove cost as a barrier to menstrual products and reduce period poverty.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to secure the general availability, free of charge, of period products.
