Veterinary Practice (Amendment) Bill 2021

The proposal would stop veterinary practices being owned by anyone except practising vets, and it would change the rules so only a qualified veterinary practitioner could apply for or keep the approval needed to operate a veterinary premises. It also updates the existing veterinary law to fit that new ownership rule. The aim is to keep control of vet practices in the hands of people with professional veterinary responsibility.

Bill entitled an Act to prohibit the ownership of veterinary practices by persons other than those persons who are veterinary practitioners and to provide for related matters.
