Taxi Regulation (Amendment) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposed change would let a taxi or small public service vehicle licence be transferred while the holder is still alive, instead of only passing on after death. It would give the Minister discretion to approve transfers case by case, taking account of things like local transport needs, family or business links, and the suitability of the people involved. That matters because it could make it easier for licence holders to retire or pass on a business without losing the value of the licence.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Taxi Regulation Act 2013 to allow for the transfer of licences.
