National Standards Authority of Ireland (Carbon Footprint Labelling) Bill 2021

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Creates a role for Ireland’s standards body to set and promote common rules for carbon-footprint labels on products and related processes. The aim is to show shoppers how much greenhouse gas is caused across a product’s life — from raw materials and manufacture to transport, use and disposal — so people can make more climate-friendly choices and businesses have clearer, trusted standards to follow.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to confer functions on the National Standards Authority of Ireland in relation to promoting the use of standard specifications and standard marks to give information about the carbon footprint of commodities, process and practices.
