Loan Guarantee Schemes Agreements (Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland) Bill 2021

Public bill · Government · Presented

Gives the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine power to strike funding agreements with the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland so loan guarantee schemes can be delivered to businesses that qualify for support. Its main purpose is to help small firms, including some in farming, get finance to cope with Brexit-related cashflow problems and to invest in the post-Brexit economy. It caps ministerial funding contributions at €50 million in total, and requires a review of the law after four years.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to enable certain Ministers of the Government to enter into agreements with the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland for the purpose of facilitating access to finance pursuant to certain loan guarantee schemes by certain qualifying enterprises; and to provide for related matters.
