Redundancy Payments (Lay off, Short Time and Calculation of Reckonable Service) Bill 2021
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
During the Covid-19 emergency, the bill would protect workers on lay-off or short time by making it clear that taking another job would not stop them keeping their redundancy rights. It would also make it an offence for an employer to wrongly treat a worker as having resigned in order to avoid paying redundancy. In addition, it would ensure that time spent on lay-off or short time while receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment counts toward future redundancy entitlements, and it would require a report on adding that time to reckonable service rules.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Redundancy Payments Act 1967 in respect of periods of lay off and short time and the calculation of reckonable service and to provide for related matters.
